Offline Marketing
Offline marketing, to differentiate it from Internet or online marketing, comes in many forms. Print ads in magazines and newspapers; radio and TV ads; postcards, brochures, newsletters and magazines; coupons, point-of-sale displays, trade shows, events and more are tools to reach your target audience.
The first step in marketing is always to get something out to your target audience. Simply, if your prospective customers don't get to hear about you via some kind of marketing, they won't know about your product or service and won't know to buy it.
For example, a quick (but well designed and written) postcard can get some immediate business in, and a newsletter on a hot topic to your existing customers can reactivate them and get them purchasing more.
Marketing Campaigns
For the long-term, a well-orchestrated marketing campaign based on a sound marketing strategy will provide a continuous increase of response and sales.
The term "campaign" comes from military jargon and is "a connected series of operations designed to bring about a particular result" (Merriam-Webster). Furthermore, each type of marketing enhances the others and contributes to getting your message out. A simple coupon or postcard can get your message out, but in concert with a website they are far more powerful. You can only put so much text on a postcard or coupon, but they can drive your public to your website in which you have plenty of space to make your case and convert your customer.
